What special characters are not allowed in domain names?

The special characters that are not allowed in domain names mainly include the following categories:

1.Spaces: Spaces are not allowed in domain names.

2.Punctuation marks and operators: such as @, #, $, %, ^, &, *, (, ), +, =, {, }, [, ], , |, ;, :, ", ', <, >, ,, ?, /, etc.

3.Other special characters: such as ~, _, etc.

Special Characters in Domain Names

Additionally, the only special character allowed in domain names is the hyphen (-), but its use is also restricted:

1.Hyphens cannot appear at the beginning or end of a domain name.

2.They cannot be used consecutively. For example, in a .com domain, hyphens cannot appear consecutively in the second and third character positions.

3.Some top-level domains (such as .cn, .中国, etc.) do not allow consecutive hyphens.

In summary, domain names can only include English letters (a-z, case-insensitive), numbers (0-9), and the hyphen (-).
